Eastland Network is the electricity lines company for Gisborne, Wairoa and the East Coast. We own and maintain the poles, wires and underground cabling used by electricity retailers to supply customers with electricity. Since 31 March 2015, we’ve also owned the region’s high voltage electricity transmission network: the steel towers and poles that connect our region to the national grid. All power to you.
Eastland Network, the electricity lines company for Gisborne, Wairoa and the East Coast, embarked on an ambitious journey to recreate key areas of their workplace in Carnarvon Street while maintaining full occupancy of the building. DStevens worked closely with Pamela Hall of iDWorkshop to develop a series of new spaces that met their aspirations for a collaborative and distinct environment. The project involved the demolition and reconstruction of meeting rooms, staff toilets and a kitchen and social breakout space. At the centre of the workplace is a new social and kitchen space, featuring retrofitted lamp post lighting, custom-made moveable bench seating and American oak shelving. The materials and colours selected, coupled with bespoke joinery units built by DStevens, responds to the client’s desire for a timeless and high-quality interior. This palette not only reflects the Eastland Network brand but connects to the adjacent workspaces seamlessly. Our team rebuilt the existing meeting rooms with new glazed walls to provide better daylight and visual connection to the interior workplace. New toilet facilities were built alongside the existing facilities to meet the operational requirements of the brief. Our team completed this project in multiple stages allowing full operation of Eastland Network to continue.
Located right in the heart of Gisborne city, Eastland Port is New Zealand’s second largest log exporter and the most easterly commercial shipping port in New Zealand. We’re proud to be the country’s most efficient logging port. Our local forestry industry continues to grow, providing opportunity and employment for our entire region. Log export volumes are booming. We can handle 3 million tonnes of wood per year but we need to handle more than 5 million tonnes. We’re getting ready with our twin berth planned development.
The Eastland Generation business includes geothermal, hydro and diesel electricity generation plants. Our focus is on building strong, long-term, mutually beneficial relationships from the ground up — together with the owners of the land the plants operate on. We power a realisation of value to our land owner partners and deliver a resource that wouldn’t otherwise be available.
